The Kennedy Center breaks the idea of dance into five key elements: Body, Action, Space, Time, and Energy. These interconnected ingredients perfectly describe how it feels to be at a SunSquabi show.
What is a SunSquabi? The Colorado-based jam-tronica trio have been lighting up stages coast-to-coast for the better part of nine years. Including selling out the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, a right-of-passage that is a dream come true for musicians.

The nearly sold-out crowd at Madison Live in Covington, KY showed up in true force on February 1st and SunSquabi answered. From infectious grooves to the dazzling light show, the only thing that’s left to wonder is how only three guys can make such a huge sound! Switching from guitars and basses to keyboards and synthesizers, frequently mid-song, showed just how comfortable these guys are with their craft; playing at an impressively high skill level on multiple instruments in near total darkness and making it look not only effortless but enjoyable.
What’s their secret? Is it magic? Maybe. Years of taking their show on the road likely plays a part. By March of this year the boys will have played 23 shows from New York city to Hermosa Beach, California. We were lucky enough to be one of those chosen tour stops thanks to Essential Productions.

The concert was a spectacle to behold and on top of that SunSquabi released their newest single Rain Shadow on February 2nd, directly after the show at Madison Live. The song is their second drop of 2024, part of the newest recorded material since their 2022 album Arise.
What’s next for SunSquabi? Will they continue to drip feed new songs as part of a new release strategy? We’ll keep our eyes on their socials to find out. In the meantime, the funky trio roadshow trucks onward to the next stop. They will close out the tour in Denver on March 9th at the Mission Ballroom.
